Building a loving relationship with marketing
In today’s Musings on Marketing and Magic I talk about how we as conscious entrepreneurs, coaches, and healing professionals can build a relationship with marketing that feels engaged and joyful. Most of us don’t go into business to do marketing and yet, it often ends up being a topic that we spend a lot of time, money, and effort on if we are serious about building our business.
Open heartedness helps us reframe marketing
As empaths and highly sensitives, we bring our heart into our services. It is often one of the values that infuses how we deliver our methods and processes and how we interact with our clients. There’s also more and more focus on heart centered or authentic marketing and so you may do your best to be open hearted when you engage in your marketing activities and interact with your ideal clients.
But how is your personal relationship with marketing? Do you resent having to spend time and effort on it? Do you feel yourself contracting just thinking of having to do any kind of marketing activity? Or do you feel sleazy about traditional marketing methods that can feel manipulative at times?
How I changed my relationship with marketing
I certainly have experienced all of those in my continuously evolving relationship with marketing. And what finally helped me shift to a more joyful place with it was exploring it open heartedly, meaning with a sense of curiosity and compassion. Just acknowledging how I would feel at any given moment was a huge shift. Sometimes I felt resentful, sometimes overwhelmed, at other times self-criticism would show up or anxiety… I eventually came to a place where I recognized that I could continue to resist marketing or I could let go of this resentment and allow a completely new relationship with it to emerge. And that’s what happened. I reframed marketing for myself as connection building and since I love connecting with other people, I could fully embrace the concept and fall in love with marketing.
I see falling in love with marketing as a new marketing paradigm – a way of staying connected in the strategies, tactics, and tasks in an open-hearted way, where I recognize that they are simply ways for me to connect with the people who resonate the most with me, my ideal clients.
Have you fallen in love with marketing yet?
Until next time – be magical!
